ok after much research im either going for one of the canon powershot a series, the canon powershot S1 IS, or the sony DSC-W1. i am VERY interested in a camera that shoots video. the S! IS seems the best of these 3 with 30fps for video mode.
im also thinking of just going ahead and buying a portable hard drive and save myself all tons of hassle in internet cafes and photography shops. i might even splurge on this portable hard drive. it is just too tempting. tell me what you folks think.
Portable hard drives are great - just be sure to check the reviews (especially pertaining to quality) before buying one. My roomie in Amsterdam and my buddy here at home had problems with theirs not properly saving his memory stick data (d'OH!), thereby losing hundreds of photos. Granted, they still had thousands, but it'd suck to have a transfer fail and not know about it 'til you got home and tried to unload them.

Well not sure if this is an idea for you but I finalgled myself a Microdrive out of an iPod mini. I wound up with this for like 65- 75 bucks and it hold 4 gigs worth of pictures. I get about 6500 - 12000 pictures depending on resolution and movies.
My camera is an S50 by cannon.
