I'm planning a very last minute trip to Costa Rica for the second week of May. Any suggestions for hostels that are safe for a single, female traveller? Thanks.

Hey! I'll be there the 2nd week of May as well. I think for San José, I'm going to go with Hostel Pangea.. that and Tranquilo Backpackers look really good, and the reviews are also pretty good on the both of them.

Thanks again Omisan, I was checking out Costa Rica Backpackers (mostly because of the pool!) but I'll be sure to check out those other hostels before I book anything. I read that you'll be there the 11th, I am hoping to fly in on the 7th or 8th. Are you travelling alone?

The pool thing @ Costa Rica backpackers got my interest at first, but then I figured the other two are in more interesting neighborhoods and seem to have more of a "social" rep, which is handy when traveling solo. (So, yeah, I'm traveling alone)
