Hey Kel WELCOME... well if you're looking for people who've gone backpacking, solo, random, spur of the moment... or anykind.. you've certainly come to the right place... and yeah solo can be intimidating but it is the best experience ever once you're out there... you meet soo many cool people who are just like you. And to be honest I've found that you're never really alone when solo packing,... it's more like... just not brining travel companions and picking them up and dropping them off along the way
So again... Welcome!

While Perth is supposed to be an awsome place, it's a very long way from any other cities. So unless you can afford to fly from Perth to your next destination or you don't mind 2 day bus trips I'd say start in darwin then work your way down the east coast. If you wanna read about my last trip to Darwin go here

Welcome - sounds like you are going to have an awesome time. Congrats on the WHV!
So, are you originally from the states? Wasn't quite clear on that. I just drank a category five hurricane, so I might not be too clear on a lot of things.

Congrats on the WHV being issued! I reiterate - Come to Perth and I can show you a good time down under
But serioulsy LFB is right - Perth is one of the more isolated cities.

Lostfarmboy.............i was only joking........cos you posted and given good info on my 2 threads!........ wot part of Aus are you in at the moment??
I've checked out tickets and can get a one way to Darwin from London for £300 on the sta site?..........pretty cheap!
I only need to beg, borrow or steal the rest of the money for my trip, or i won't be going anywhere!!!
I was thinking if i go to Darwin and travelling clock-wise around Aus?.....staying in cheap hostels along the way and getting any work i can aswell!

hehe, i'm a bit slow this week, i'm still recovering from a weekend of way too much alcohole consumption.
I live in a town called Bathurst, its a couple of hours west of Sydney. But i'm moving up to Darwin at the end of this year or the start of next year.
