Ok, I will be traveling like a mo fo once I move out to the Bahamas (I have a 6 weeks on 2 weeks off schedule).
I know where I want to go, I just don't know where in where I want to go..
Here is my list of places I will be hitting. I need advice on what towns (or other areas) I should hit..
For my first 2 weeks off I want to go to Africa (South Africa to be exact) I want to do the whole Safari thing and really experince Africa. Can that be done in S. Africa?
Next I will hit Hong Kong. I already have a buddy living there and I will stay with him, but I don't know if I should do a whole 2 weeks just in Hong Kong?
After that I want to go back to Brasil, just like Hong Kong I have friends and family there to stay with, but I'm also thinging about hitting Colombia for a week. They have a beach that has a moutain on it with snow, the only one in the world I'm told??
Then Europe... Don't need help there...
Finally to Australia and New Zealand. I have a friend in Auckland so I have a place to stay in NZ, but I'm not sure what to see in Oz.. I would like to hit Melbourne, but at the same time I don't want to do too much touristy stuff.. I would like to go hiking, scuba, and all that jazz... Also, I saw on TV that Qantis Airline is doing an awesome special $999 (return) from L.A. to Oz and 3 flights within Oz.. I'll have to check the site for more details!
Thanks for the help!

In two weeks I'm off to Australia and New Zealand for a month. I'll make sure to report back to you with the highlights.
I also just saw that Qantas special. I wish it was around a couple months ago when I booked my trip...

Yes, you can do the safari thing out of South Africa. I remember reading an article that if you wait till you get over there, and go "standby" on a safari leaving within a week or so, you could get them for bare bones prices. The article was in Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel magazine a couple years ago.
If that sounds interesting to you, and you want me to dig through my collection for it, let me know.

Wow - sounds you like you are headed for some awesome places. I will only offer one suggestion...for Australia if you want to do outdor activities such as SCUBA, Hiking, etc., head to the North. Cairns is the HQ for a lot of outdoor actvities - especially diving on the GBR. There is also a lot of rainforest you can go see and hike in. There are also various safari type trips and rafting trips as well out of there. There are plenty of travel agencies you can book with right in town. Enjoy your journey!

LiveFreeorDie is spot on, Cairns is where u wanna go for the type of things u wanna do. Darwin is also good for off the beaten track experiences, but Cairns would prolly be the way to go. You can read about my trip to Darwin at My Homepage. Hope this helps.
