Initially I had planned to spend most of my 17 days vacation in just the UK. I'm thinking of changing plans. Check it out:
Glasgow-5days(possibly rent a car and drive up to the highlands)
Fly from Glasgow to Amsterdam(easyjet flight)
Amsterdam-4days
Head from Amsterdam to Germany(Benelux/Germany flexipass)
Germany/Berlin-4days
Fly from Berlin to London(easyjet flight)
London-4days
The easyjet flight are cheap 108USD. I'm not quite sure if it is worth getting the flexipass it 200USD for 5days of travel. Is that really worth it? Or should I just pay as I go on day trips out of Amsterdam and Berlin. How much would it cost for me to get from Amsterdam to Berlin by train anyway?
The more I think of it this seems like a lot more fun then just staying in the UK the whole time. I figure I'm over there I might as well check some stuff out right?

One down side of staying in the UK is that the pound is SOOOOOOOO strong against the USD that it may really hit the pocket hard.

You will have to compare your prices. There is a fare finder on Rail Europes site somewhere. You put in the origin and destination and it gives you a train schedule and the cost of a one way ticket. Just compare the total of the tickets to the pass and there you go! Don't forget to convert from Euro to USD!

I talked with a friend the other night and he suggested getting a car. I might end up doing that anyway. Its going to be a lot more but i'll probably be able to see a lot more.
As far as the week dollar. Tell me about it. Everyone I mention to that I'm going to Europe thats one of the first things they say. But I'd rather head out there then to South America.
This trip is creaping up on me like crazy. I got to get some things straigtened out here before its too late! Do you guys usually pre-book all of your hostles? Or could I bring a list of them in areas I might be in and check them out as I arrive?
Another thing about cash. How much should I be carrying around day to day? How much are surcharges on ATMs over there? Will I make a withdrawl and get charged like 10usd for every withdrawl?

for exchange rates: Exchange Rates
I am spending a few days in London but then going to countries on the euro which is not as rough of an exchange as the pound...
i have booked hostels early and it help organize some chaos, ensure a bed at the price you want, and help you budget better since you know what your accomidation is going to cost

Wouldn't it be just as easy to fly from Amsterdam to Germany it's still a big distance between the two. It's a short flight and I'm sure I've seen Ryanair flights around the €40-80 mark for one way.

Probably would be easier. But getting the car seems to be what I'm going to end up doing. Its gonna cost me but I think it will be well worth it to be able to stop and see anything I'd like to check out.
Just what I'm thinking.
