hey peeps
im looking to purchase a travel guide for when i do my eurotrip and i was wondering if you knew which was the best. in australia lonely planet is the most well known but i borrowed an old fodors from the library and its pretty good! so what do u suggest? if i went with lonely planet i would buy the europe on the shoestring, but i think all the others have a book just on europe. has anyone got any of these books and if so what are they like? would you recommend them?
thanks kids xoxo

Personally I like Fodors better than Lonely Planet, b/c it has really good info, and a lot of "off the beatin track" places to see, not just the big cities.

I used europe on a shoestring when I went. It really came in handy. out of all the books I checked out it had what I was looking for. for other stuff I just copied what I wanted out out of other books and wrote it in my journal.

I usually buy the "Time Out" guide for whatever major cities I'm hitting, mostly since they're a bit "younger" and have a better pulse on the nightlife and food, in addition to all the touristy information, as well as regional off-the-beaten-path stuff. They also have these cool sidebar pieces on funky walks, themed ways to explore cities, and whatnot.
