I would have to say that this is one of the best cities I have been to, Its interesting with its rich history and architecture, and the locals I met were all happy to help if you became lost. You can walk around for hours and admire the "new" and the"old" cities, from walks down Princess St. where the shopping mad eople make their way to try and find a bargin, or to the Royal Mile to search out your family history and at geneologist. The city is alive from 7am until 3am no problem ( maybe not Sundays), Enjoy some lunch at he Princess st. gardens which is at the foot of Edinburgh Castle, thats where I ate most of my meals, just for the view. There is a supermarket on Shadewick Place not to far from the park, just ask a passer buy where it is and they will tell ya. Grab your food there its much cheaper than going to a resturant or a convience store.

the Monuments that are scattered through out the city are all something that you will stop, even just for a second to admire,

The Scott Monument

Calton Hill

are just to name a couple that I just stared at in awe.

The pub scene in Edinburgh is pretty smoke'n Pubs line the Royal Mills, and the After Hours Clubs are peppered near the Grassmarkets, all good fun ( Except Liquid Room), I went out and had a really good time one night with some people I met at the hostel.

And depending on whow hungry you are, you can have Fish and Chips for a few pounds, go to the supermarket for even less or go all out and eat very well done meal, there is something for everyone.

My tip....Don't Forget Your Map!!

Thanks for the review and pictures, CD! Man, I sooooooo want to visit Scotland and Ireland ASAP. I just may by years end ^_^ If I go back to Spain this winter, on my way there or back, I will budget enough to spend a few days in both countries.
Couple of questions. Was Edinburgh packed with tourists this time of year? Did you get a chance to escape from Edinburgh and head out to a nearby town? Did you see the William Wallace statue or kiss the Blarney Stone in Ieland?

I´m a sucker for castles! I can´t get enough of em Sounds like a great place to part too B)
