I am probably going to study Spanish this summer in Costa Rica. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences at any Spanish schools? Has anyone heard of Intercultura School? Thank you!

This is a good website
www.studyspanishabroad.com
I am still looking for a site that allows students to rate the schools.

Anywhere from 800 to 2,000 ($ in US). Depends on if you want to stay with a family or in a hotel. Or if you want group or private lessons. It also matters what city you want to be in. I don't know anything about any cities, so I'm stuck. I might take this course called Maestro. Its for teachers. I teach 2nd grade in Florida and most of my kids are Ricans and their parents don't speak English. It very frusterating, so I will probablytake that course ($1,200). There is also one that combines surfing and Spanish. I don't know how to surf, but don't want to look stupid trying to learn in front of a bunch of hot surfer guys who probably know how From what I hear, the attraction to Costa Rica is the nature instead of the culture. I don't want to sign up for 4 weeks of Spanish school without hearing anything about it from people who have been there (not the testimonies on the school's website, either.)

I went to costa rica back in 97 and loved every minute of it, oh and for future references they are big fans of being called ricans. they call themselves Ticos.
Costa Rica is an amazing country and I am deadset on returning someday.

In my opinion if you are going to learn a language (spanish in this case) go for an "immersion" based program. They usually last 1-3 months and you are placed with a host family after only like a one week crash course on the basics. You are bound to learn the language this way and it is a much more well rounded learning experience.

I have also been looking at teaching English in China, but decided against it b/c my boss wanted to know if I would be returning next year and they have some pretty shady ways of hiring teachers in China. I wonder if there is a program where you can teach English in exchange for free Spanish classes?

Some of the schools that you can teach english at overseas offer other language courses. Find a school like that to teach at and your golden!
