Well there has been a change of plans and I am spending my summer in Madrid instead of London. I am staying in a dorm so thats all set now I just need to know how much money I will need for two months. How much will I need for food if say I eat out at cheap places half the time and the other half buy things to make at the dorm(do they got shit like penute butter and jelly?)? And more importantly what can I expect to spend on booze? What does beer and liquor cost at a store and what will a night either clubbing or at a bar cost me?
Also I have about 5 days off in the middle of the program so I want to take a lil mini vacation. I was thinking Lisbon. How would I get there and what can I expect to pay. Or is there somewhere else I could go cheaply. I am thinking I want to be near the water.
Any info will be greatly appreciated. THANKS.

Check out Spanair:
www.spanair.com
Lots of low cost carriers around Europe, and most probably fly to Madrid. So, where do YOU want to go...?
And Madrid is GREAT for day trips to Toledo, Segovia, et al...

In terms of prices, I can't really remember much except that Madrid is a LOT cheaper than Barcelona! I would say you need at least 2000 US for 2 months, and probably more if you're planning to party a lot. But again, that's a rough estimate. I remember one night I went to a "nice" club and it was 15 euro cover to get in, so yeah, I only did that once! Look for specials and stuff or drink before you go out...buying drinks out can really hurt the budget.
I agree with Mike's suggestion for daytrips.
Lisbon is wonderful, and I loved Portugal in general. It's not too far away from Madrid and Portugal is cheaper than Spain. I also loved Porto, in the north.
Good luck

Well, the round trip train ticket from Madrid to Lisbon is $162 and it's about 10 hours because the high speed train wont be done for another 6 years :/. Lisbon is awesomely amazing!! GO!!! haha. You can probobly fly there for about the same price though on: TAP Air Portugal(Spain Page)
Iberia
