HaHa, so I come home from University and my parents have bought a HUGE flatscreen tv... I mean I know I live in a rich little bubble of snobbiness (my town is this crazy snobby place even though I'm not rich... or I didn't think we were...)
HONESTLY... i like the screen... but I think it's a bit much to have it seeing the price they paid for it... it's not even a TV it's a monitor... so it's like for businesses and stuff... very expensive.... really... I don't see the need... but I'll watch it anywho

Obviously, you don't suffer from the 'gadget' disease that some of the rest of us have!
... monitor means that it's generally higher resolution than a normal plasma screen, and with everyone having digital cable or sattellite etc, there's no need for a tuner (it's redundant).. same with not having speakers... you usually have surround sound, so the darn things never get used on the TV anyhow!
and for this privilege of not having all this redundant equipment, you get to pay extra (i've not quite figured that one out yet)
For those of us with that disease, we understand that sort of thing. It's a hard thing to live with... You gotta have gadgets like that - not because you need them - rather because you don't have one yet!
Be thankful that it's skipped your generation... these things often run in families!

Jeez...and I thought I was the Luddite with no cable. No TV, whoa, I feel like a techie, now!
I'd say my TV is on maybe once every two weeks, though. Of course, I DID just use it to watch the extended version of LOTR: Return of the King, Saturday night. Awesome!

A big T.V. is a must for two reasons...movies and sports. Being able to watch my Red Sox win the world series in high definition on my big screen was nearly a religious experience.

It's amazing the toys our rents can afford once they stop having to support our @sses at home. They usually do "upgrade" the home entertainment center and make other home improvements after we fly the coop. I enjoy that stuff whenever I go home now - just too bad they didn't have it when I was living there!

The only TV I have is this really old one from the 60's I think in the back bedroom that I think I turned on 4 times in the last 2 years for somewhat important events. Invasion of Iraq, Pistons win the championship, Elections, and the Stanley Cup final game last year. So I am with you omid. Although I do love my movies and would buy a big plasma widescreen just to watch them. But plain ol' TV, its only good for poker and Adult Swim.

see, it's in the genes... some have the gene, some dont!
I don't watch a lot of TV. More often than not, I watch movies... but even if it was once a month, I'd still want to have the big screen!
