Hey tpunkers, I just had a bit of excitement today..Im on a small peaceful island off the malaysian coast. It has beaut beaches, jungle and wildlife - toucan like birds, lizards and monkies...
Anyway a few monkies were in the distance about 1.5 metres away. I went to put my drink (what they were after) down on the ground so I could get my camera from my bag. When I looked up they were approaching so I got my drink and backed off and then they came for me with their mouths open, teeth showing and making noises!! They were really quick little things and I didnt get my photo - little bastards!
But 20 days and Im home! Im going thru all the emotions now especially considering Ive had time to reflect while relaxing on the beach.
woooohoo!

Oh, that's great!
Yeah, I have my own monkey story in Malaysia, too. We went to this temple in these limestone caves north of Kuala Lumpar. My friend bought a bag of bird seed to feed the monkeys, which are all over the place. This one greedy fellow, seeing Gale walking up the stairs with a full, unopened bag, leapt toward him shreiking. Gale did what any sane human would do and dropped the bag, backing off. The monkey snatched up the bag and scampered up a pillar to enjoy his ill-gotten gains alone.
He promptly named that monkey "Little Bastard." So, don't be upset that the little shits got the better of you...!

A friend from Uni got bitten by a monkey when he was in Bali - very funny.
When I mentioned it to him recently, he said he'd been bitten twice now - seems that on his honeymoon to indonesia, he got bitten AGAIN.
Once was funny. twice - i cant stop laughing.
I dont think he looks that much like a banana :P

Hey, on the bright side, at least the monkies didn't have wings and didn't carry you off to a scary wicked witch! On second thought, that might have been cool though!

Careful, Ozmate,
Them monkeys can sure get vicious around people - maybe they can tell the difference between the tourists and the locals...
What island are you on? Hope the monsoon season doesn't damper your travels.
And aah.....the beach is just about the best place to fall back and reflect on your loooooong journey!
Cheers mate,
-r

The monkeys in the rainforest here in Belize have never chased me, bu the sure do yell at people. The locals call them "hola monkies" because they are so freek'n loud.

You should have made a deal with the monkeys. They get your drink if you get some good photos. Monkeys can be smart.
