Not necessarily who you are voting for, just who you prefer in general.

Wow it looks to be a heated race. I vote for my cat. He doesn't believe in taxes, jobs, or money. He says we should all just sit around, eat, and get fat, and chase birds and pieces of string. Its about the best I have found in the candidates.

^ yes, there are-- but they're pretty much relegated to the second-rate status of "also ran." Many people firmly believe that Bush got elected because of Ralph Nader, i.e. the people that voted for Nader would have most likely voted for Gore instead-- essentially cancelling out what could have been thousands, if not millions, of Democratic Party votes. And on top of that, the Bush-For-Pres campaign have acutally *donated* money to Ralph Nader's bid in hopes to draw votes away from the democratic candidate. As a result there are a lot of people who feel extremely resentful of independent candidates, and Ralph Nader in particular-- to say nothing of their feelings toward the Republican party.

The whole purpose of voting is to cast a vote for the candidate that best meets your views, not just picking someone so they can beat the other guy. This is why we as the people need to support more independent candidates, not fewer, and not be angry or resentful towards them. I applaud such brave souls as Ralph Nader and Ross Perot for taking a chance to make a run towards the presidency. I would do it, but I have to wait til the election of 2016. We need someone that is an "average joe" to go out and talk to the people one on one. We also need to get average workers into our congress. This is what will bring about change in our country. Such petty bickering about Bush vs. Kerry is pointless. They both suck, and neither one will help the country.
Just my two cents, sorry for the rant. Nothing personal to you SV. Not jumping down your throat, more of a inspirational thing I s'pose.

If I was old enough, and had a few good supporters I would go for it. I would drive town to town and talk to people about whatever. I figure I could go for the average person vote.

hey sijuki-- I feel the same way, actually, and I hope that some day a decent independent candidate can actually win the whole thing... I just think it's a very sad occurrence that someone has decided to use the independent ticket as a weapon for their own gain. Maybe I shouldn't really be surprised after all though.

In my state, Bush supporters actually went out and got petions signed to try to get Nader on the ballot. That is just really, really pathetic in my estimation.
I am on the fence about independents. We need more parties.....parties that can get funding and actually compete with the existing parties. True independents, without financial backing, will go nowhere. Sad but true.
If a candidate (like Nader) has absolutely no chance to win, I really think people need to look at the two real candidates and try to pick a couple of key issues important to them to make a final choice. Bottom line is Kerry or Bush will be Pres. There must be SOMETHING (maybe only one thing) every single person in this country can identify to differentiate the candidates. There are differences.....small as they may be. Meanwhile...support candidates who are pushing for more campaign finance reform...like McCain. That would do more to open up the political process than anything else. Just my 2 Cents but get out and VOTE, Dammit!!
