First of all, welcome to Travelpunk!

Nah, don't be scared. You can meet people where ever you go if you want to. People are always people.

WELCOME!!!!

Definitely don't worry. As most people here will I'm sure attest, whether it is traveling alone or living abroad alone, you will meet tons of people in hostels, at bars, at work, etc. etc. Believe me, you will meet so many people you won't even believe....and you will have some friends for life! Plus I think it is easier to meet people when you're traveling alone; you put yourself out there more.

I agree...you'll meet plenty of folks. Travelers are a special breed, in many ways, and not just open to talking to people from around the world, but EAGER to...

Beck,

I am actually in the process of going over seas as well for 2 years. The main thing to take into consideration is where you are going to live and especially where you are going to work. If you are planning on living and working in England my best advice is save, save, and save some more. Work is not impossible to come by but it is also not easy. My friend moved their in 2002 and was not able to land a well paying job for over 5 months. So be ready for rejection as far as work goes.

Money wise I use the 6 month plan when I go to live abroad. I save up enough cash to make sure I have enough to pay rent, eat, and go out on for 6 months before I even leave. This is more of a precautionary measure but a very good one. Ohhhh and do not forget to check out the exchange rate between the currency. For me in the US the British pound is worth more and cost of living is hirer so I have to save even more. Just be smart and work out a budget before you leave. An if you can try to get a job and a place to stay before you leave. Check out the internet there are a ton of helpfull companies that make the process very easy.

Best of luck, and I hope you have a great time!!!

Mikie
