that is a great idea sijuki, if only everyone in tpunk donated $2 a month to help each other out to travel that would be awesome. Ofcourse this will all be voluntary, and on the super honor system.
example:
2008 members:
$2 a month from every member = 2x2008=$4016 a month in savings or we can call it a tpunk scholarship.
lets take it further:
$4016 a month saved, times 12 months = $4016x12=$48,192 (do you realize how many of us we can help to travel and see things that we cannot get to right away money wise)
this will be a great idea and $2 a month = $24 dollars a year that is not heavy on any one.
lets take it a little further:
$2= 200 pennis: if you can only save 7 pennis a day (i find seven pennis a day just in my house under the couches, street, ect...)
what do you guys think? Just a thought!

I absolutely love the idea... i would definitly fork out 2 bucks or so a month with hopes of landing a piece of that back... but who/what would determine who deserves the scholarship?
I volunteer to be the deciding comittee

This is one of those things that I think about.. like even as far as using money to send someone on a trip to a country to check out hostels and tourist spots and hangouts and such... Even if it was a week or so... we could coneivably have someone in a country somewhere almost constantly all year long. So we would have constant updates on parts of the world. Which would coneivably lead to bigger better things and perhaps even the ability to offer associations with different hostels or something to give discounts. Or even to help set up information booths in popular destinations. Just rambling.. but a great idea llemus... we should discuss it in Vegas.

AND BOOKS!!! FORGET lonely planet, rough guides and let's go.
We would have !TravelPunk guide books For backpackers by backpackers!
Then after awhile we wont have to dish out the 2 bones a month cause so many peeps will be buying our books/stories/pictures/bodies
I wont be in Vegas so im adding my two cents now... maybe we should start a seperate topic for this...

Great input by both parts, Maybe this should be another topic we can start out. I will paste it as a new topic.
I made a paste copy of this idea on general discussions, topic Tpunk Scholarship, Helping each other out.
so jake and sijuki make your comments on that threat please.

I'm dragging my sister out of the Appalacians (sp?) next summer and taking her with me to europe. The official plan is to get jobs but... probably won't happen.
