I have stayed at Haus Christine in Salzburg and I have a mixed feeling about it. There are several positives. It is really a house owned by a family that lives next door, so it is very clean, the rooms are nice, and the family is friendly. Also, the view is excellent from some of the rooms.
There are two negatives. The first, a minor one, is that they advertise what sounds like an excellent breakfast, but all you get are a couple bites of scrambled eggs and a roll. The second negative is a lot more important. The place is outside of Salzburg. It is ten minutes by train and you can only access the train once an hour. I am not sure what time the train stops running. So, it is tough to recommend this place because of location, but from what I have heard, the hostels in the city are not that good.

Salzburg is not a very big city and the train station is on the edge of downtown. Once you get off at the station, I think it was another 10 minutes to walk into the heart of the downtown.
