Well if ya loose your money, you will have that 100$ that you kept stashed in your sock this whole time...sure it stinks and its sweaty, but you have it and it will get you through the next 24/48 hours until you can get some more dough. ALWAYS have a back up just in case.

Start calling your credit card companies, your family back home and find the nearest money transfer ( Western Union). That 100$ will not last forever.

True. Keep a small stash of funds on you, folks.
On the tips page of this site, I recommend that you open up a little slot in one of the seams of your backpack. Maybe in one of the handle or straps. Then, carefully fold 2 one hundred dollar bills and slide them in that slot. Re-sew that seem realy good (uup and down) using the same color thread so it looks inconspicuous.

*Don´t pull it out unless you absolutely need it! It´s for emegency purposes only!

What if you got robbed and they took off with your whole money belt?! They probably wouldn´t take off with your backpack filled with dirty clothes. You can cancel your credit cards, go to the embassy and start the process for a new passport, make some phone calls, AND you´ll have two hundred in cash to get you by on the absolute cheap while you wait for funds to arrive from home.

When you finally do pull it out, do it on the last day or two of your trip before heading home- and SPLURGE :D
