Does anyone have any suggestions for a 24 year old girl traveling alone to Peru in July? I just bought a non refundable ticket and I am freaking out!

I have never been to Peru, but all I can say is have a great time, and always be careful on anything you do. And don't forget to go to Machupichu. hopefully i spelled that right.
And watch out for these guys in the jungle!

Don't freak out, JR. You're traveling a well-trod path, that many others tourists and travelers have gone before. I have been wanting to go to Machu Picchu myself, but haven't made it, yet. It is supposed to be the most stunning archeological site in the Western hemisphere.
If you like hiking, sign on with a hiking group that is doing the Inca Trail. There are various versions, I hear, but you basically spend about a week ascending into the Andes, visiting Incan sites along the way. The trek culminates at Macchu Picchu and is supposed to be awesome.
The city of Cuzco is supposed to be neat with lots of historic sights and colonial ambience. Plus, there are plenty of off-the-beaten paths places to go, too. Check out a couple guidebooks from the library and start reading. You'll get less antsy and more excited, I'll bet...
Good luck!

If anyone reads this who has been to Peru, do you recommend booking with a tour group to go to sights, waiting to get there to book, or just winging it??
I just wanted to add that...

Hola JRex98! Don't freak! You'll have the time of your life! I think that jteichgrab and/or joanofarc may have been there, send them a private message. Also check the National Geographic website for additional travel info. on Peru. I can't wait to go on a archeological hiking tour of the Andes in Peru too!!!! Keep us posted!

Sorry but this is not entirely related to "single women travel" but I was wondering if the Inca trail hike can only be done as an organized tour or can I do it on my own. Also, would december be a good time to do it and travel within Peru?
thanks

All I know is that they are trying to preserve the trail, so from what I understand there are parts that you must have a guide with you to enter. As far as when to go, I think that during their winter season (our summer) is the most popular time to travel.
