OK, so your backpacking through Venis, you come to one of those really cool mask shops, you go in, find the one that you like and buy it...now you have this mask to lug around....maybe not, find the nearest post office and send it to yourself at home, by the time you get back, it will be there. This can work with any size item, from a beer stein from Germany, to a Digery Do from Australia...just send it snail mail, saves you from losing it, braking it or having it stolen..if the item is expencive, get it insured. Some stores will even take care of the sending for you, just make sure you trust the shop keeper to send it after you leave. B)

Just be careful that the lady at the post office doesnīt rip you off. I was in Paris and had some souvenir t-shirts and a leather jacket that I wanted to mail off and went to the post office to ask for a box. The lady saw my stuff and said that I needed 2 boxes for my stuff and that you can pack as much as you wanted in each box for that one set price per box. I said okay and paid something like $28 per box. It was at the beginning of my trip, I had $5,000 for a 4 week backpacking trip, so money wasnīt an issue, and didnīt want to carry this stuff around for another 3 1/2 weeks through Western Europe and feared that my new $100 lamb skin leather jacket was going to get ripped off in some hostel or something. So, I bought the two boxes (The boxes come un-folded so I was going on her word. It turned out that I was able to fit everything and then some in only one box! I went back to the window to show the lady that I only needed one box and not two as she suggested. She said no refunds! I was like, what the f#*K ?! She stands up and just walks away. So Iīm standing there, couldnīt speak french, no one would help, and she walks off and doesnīt return ! So I stuck this unfolded box into my backpack and had to curve up the sides (all bent out of shape now) because it was too wide to lay flat in my backpack. Hauled it around for the next 5 days and later left it at a sweet French girls house because I didnīt need it and she used it a month later to send me some souvenirs from her home town.
Anyway, good idea about sending stuff home as it worked for me too! Just get one box at a time .
