Well i'm back and here to report on my stay at the Red Boat Malaren. All in all, I'd say the Red Boat is O.K., but not much more. We stayed in a four room cabin, which was, uh, cozy and smelled a bit damp. But it was clean and safe, so no worries there. The reception was very nice and helpful and the boat itself does have character (there are actually two boats - a red one and a white one, we stayed on the white one). The location is very good and close to just about everything, including a subway stop. However, when I took a shower, the water was freezing. But my boyfriend said that when he went in the men's bathroom it was all steamed up from someone just taking a shower, so maybe there just wasn't any hot water left by the time I got in there. The shower is meant for two people at once - there are two shower heads sort of around the corner from each other. You can close the door to the shower part, but if someone else is in the shower room, there isn't much privacy (i.e. there isn't a shower curtain to really separate the two). The other thing is that we were the only people under 40 years old. This was sort of a problem when we came home at 3AM and made a bunch of noise (the walls are paper thin). And by the way, it DOES rock. I enjoy the rocking, others do not.
