Well as some of you know I have been to Cuba a few times, and of all the places I have been, I have enjoyed my time there more than anywhere. What some of you do not know is that I left a little bit of my heart in Cuba.
I am very honest with my wife, and she is well aware of what my experience there consited of. I always avoided going back out of respect for her.
This weekend the topic of my vacation in Sept. came up, and she asked why I have never been back to Cuba...I was taken a little off guard, but answered quite honestly that I had never been back because I thought that she might be upset or worried if I go. Apparently she feels no drama about me going back to a country that i have fall'n in love with.
So here is my delema...I am having second thoughts about going to the Middle East and instead making a trek back to Cuba to explore more of this amazing country..My goal if I were to go would be to zig-zag from the Southern tip to Havana...
There are many pros and cons to changing my plans, but just want some fo your opinions...
CUBA
Pro's
I love Cuba!
There is so much I have not seen, and really want to
I would save about 2000$ in total trip costs, about 1000$ on flight alone
I have friends that I thought I would never see again
I would get to go before any major changes after Fidel dies
Con's
Been there...
No added countries to my list
Jordan & Lebanon
Pro's
A new plce to visit
History like no other place on earth
A new cultural experience
A historic time in the region
Con's
Cost
Limited time to cover so much area
Hostility in the region
My family is freaking out about my trip there
So anyway, folks...tell me what ya think!

Wow, I'm impressed! That was a VERY clever bait-and-switch you pulled with tha wifey!
It's all relative - so make Cuba the lesser of 2 evils. Dangle the greater hypothetical one out until she insists you choose the former. Now, you can go back and see all your Cuban honeys WITH your wife's blessing! Playa-PLAYA!

CD - if it were up to me I'd opt for the Middle East only because I haven't been there (except for a brief stopover in UAE many years ago..).
But the real question is - are you gonna seek that old flame of yours if you decide that Cuba would be your choice destination ??
(C'mon fess up mate... )

Yea, but is she in Canada or Cuba? Perhaps the real poll question should be between the names of your wife and old Cuban flame?
(Lol, you know I'm just playin' wit ya!)

No, i will not seek out the woman I knew there, I will not be near that town...no interest in making my life complicated, or putting the life with my wife in jeapordy...I can asure you all that the woman there has nothing to do with why I would want to return to Cuba.

I voted for Lebanon and Jordan, for several reasons, most of which involve the newness of a different culture, and how cool the trip would be. But most importantly, I don't think you should jeopardize what you have with your wife - which you would be doing by going to Cuba. Even if you have no plans of seeing the woman you knew there, and your wife knows that, in the back of her mind she'd be thinking about it. I know I would be. It's not worth it.
What I think you should do is go to the middle east, and when you come back, maybe bring up the idea of your wife going with you to Cuba next time? That way you could share a country you love with her, and you'd create a new memories there.

well honestly CD, I said cuba for safety reasons. If safety was not an issue I would change my vote. Either way stay safe and be careful bro!

I voted for Cuba, just for the reason that if you liked that country that much hey it does not hurt.
Plus your right on tha fact about Castro, whe he passes away it will be totally different, then that will be another trip to Cuba to see how it will change.
About your fling in cuba, well just don't get the wrong bus on purpose!

I am voting for Cuba... it sounds like a beautiful country that I probably won't get to see, for many.... many years. So I would say it is worth a second trip, plus like you said there is so much you haven't seen yet, so in a way it is still something new.
Lebanon and Syria could be another trip a year or two down the road perhaps. I know things may inhibit travel to far off lands, but it may still be an option someday. Although I don't think anything would happen in the mid-east, I would hate for something to, as would your wife.
