hey,
i am considering buying a video camera to take with me on my 7 month trip to australia.. i think it would be amazing to have teh whole experience documented on video... i am kind of worried about having to take care of it there though while staying in hostels and whatnot... has anyone brought a video camera on any long trips? any opinions?
thanks

I was in the same boat and ended up not taking it. Thanks to most of the people here making me realize that I would spend most of my time worring about the bloody camera beignbroken or stolen that I would not get the chance to enjoy my trip.

If you have a set place to stay then maybe, but if your going to hostel it everywhere, then I gotta say its not worth the worry, they just cost so much money if something were to happen....

yeah that's what iw as thinking... i am going for 7 months, so there will be cities where i will *hopefully* be living inan apartment, but i will also be in hostels a fair amount i am assuming.. i am ok with having to sleep with it around my neck and guard it with my life i think, they're so small now that it wouldnt be a big deal to carry it everywhere i go!

I'm taking mine with me to oz but the only thing I'm worried about is carrying the chargers and batteries etc. I've been to new york twice and I wish I had it on camera so Im not going to make the same mistake. S'pose i'll have to be extra vigilant security wise
