I'm trying to think of something clever. I thought Southern Exposure might be good since I'll be in south america for a year and then australia/nz, but it wasn't available.

Southern Crossing ?

It might just be me, but Southern Exposure sounds like it should be about climbing.

I like Southern Crossing, for three reasons. One, because you'll be crossing the southern hemisphere. Two, because the Southern Cross constellation appears on the flags of three countries you'll be visiting - Australia, New Zealand, Brazil (it is also on several Argentine provincial flags). Three, the Southern Cross is only visible in the hemisphere that you'll be travelling.

So, to me, Southern Crossing is a cool name with some more involved reasoning behind its choice.

Nice suggestions. I already bought "mysouthernexposure.com" but I could change it easily (it's $10-15 to get a name and map it to a blog, so not a huge expense to change).

southerncrossing.com isn't available but thesoutherncrossing.com is. Nick, you make a great argument! I'll have to think that over today

If its just a domain for personal use, keeping the friends and family updated choose whichever means more to you pretty much - if you decide to go for thesoutherncrossing then you can always just forward mysouthernexposure to thesoutherncrossing for the year that you have already purchased it for and like you said $10-15 no big loss.

If your trying to make $$ off it I would try and find something completely different though like tony has the word travel in travelpunk, it helps for search engine optimisation stuffs, anywho will stop speaking nerd now...

can't wait to read the blog either way!
