Sending a bag home
Hi all
I have been in Italy for 10 months now but it is finally time to move on (im still working on where.. thats going to be a diff post)
I do know the first stop is going to be back to England for a few weeks (mayby via Paris)
However, i have a problem. I have nearly 30 kilos of stuff here + a laptop + other things that would go in hand luggage, and Ryanair have decided that it is going to cost me an extra 9€ per kg over 15.
This has caused me a problem since that seems like way to much cash for what is mainly clothing so i am looking for some cheap soloutions.
From what ive looked at my choices are:
Fly with BA, this would still cost me an extra £25-50, and the flight is nearly £50 more expensive as well, this would also mean id have to skip the Paris stop over (i want to visit a freind if i can)
Fly Ryanair and pay the extra 100+€ fees, not really an option. same for Easyjet (they are a bit more leniant but still to pricey)
Send the bags home on a courier: This is what im thinking, however the various courier sites i have visited are all quoting me about 100€. These are all quite quick deliverys and i really dont need that, i pretty much want to put my box on a ship, and let it get home in about 3 months-whenever.
Does anyone know of any companies that will do this for less then 50€ mayby Italy-England specific companys?
Or dump half my stuff and give it to charity - or bill my dad since he is the one who bought me an extra suitcase of unneeded clothing over when all i asked for was 'my coat and a pair of jeans for the winter'
Thanks

regular mail? is that not an option? If you're sending your laptop or something expensive over, I'd be worried sending it with snail mail, but if it's pretty basic stuff I say go with the reg mail....

have u booked the ticket already? why dont you try to spread the weight between two checked bags, 15 kilos each, and then whatevers leftover put in your carryon (max 10 kilos)...if u already booked im sure must be a way to go in and buy extra bags

thats what i was thinking of doing, but with most airlines it is down to total weight of the bags no matter how many. rather then amount
so 2 15 kilo bags would cost me the same as 1 30 kilo bag

Nothing's too heavy for normal mail. At the very least you could split it up into several boxes and ship it that way, but I'm almost positive you'll be fine. I think they mainly have size restrictions...you just pay more per weight
