Hey everyone! I'm here in London for the first, very small leg of my 5-week, 6 (plus or minus) country journey. My flight was pretty uneventful, except for the huge snoring scottish man next to me (he was actually very sweet and funny, when awake) and the twit behind me who kept bumping my seat all night-- why? why oh why I ask you??? And it's a damn good thing I'm immune to turbulence. Okay, so I guess that's not really "uneventful."
Anyway, I made it to my hostel, Ashlee House, after wandering around for a while with a heavy-ass backpack. I'm bringing some things to my auntie when I go to Birmingham on Sunday, and they take up a good 7 or 8 pounds. Christ. And it turns out I'm rooming with 7 swedish dudes, just me and them! LOL They're all in town to "see the culture" and--get this-- go to the Mamma Mia show! Yes, the ABBA musical! oh god, I thought that was so funny. They seem like pretty cool boys, so far, but I don't remember their names. This is going to be interesting.
So anyway, I was wandering through Covent Garden (sans backpack) and somehow made my way to St. Martin in the Field's church, where there was a crowd gathered, apparently waiting for something. I didn't know who or what, but I didn't have anything better to do so I decided to wait too. At one point I asked a guy next to me "what are we waiting for?" and he said "got no idea, love." okay, cool. Then everyone started getting excited, the professional photographers and videographers started focusing their cameras as these guys in suits were walking towards us. I thought, okay, who's this? Then I spotted a gray-haired gentleman about 15 feet away, and yep, it was Prince Charles! I had my camera and took a couple of shots, and he was actually fairly close but there were a lot of people around so my shots are mostly partials of his head. LOL So that was my brush with fame for the day.

Sounds like you're having a good time, SV! So, Chuckie didn't stop by to shoot the breeze with you? How rude! So, you're in a room with a bunch of Swedish guys, eh? That was a bit of a shock for me in my stay in the Barcelona hostel, last week. My roommate was this Swiss woman. It was no big deal, I just figured it'd be some guy...

I saw him my first trip too - snapped a shot of him speeding by in his car - but somehow actually got a good profile of his mug - big ears and all!
So, is he with Camille these days, or what?

Hi sv! seven swedish men huh!! Well you better use this opportunity. If ya know what i'm saying..
Sounds like your having a blast. I've seen the royal family as well. Not in england though (which would be so cool) But when they came to vancouver a few years ago I was one of the obnoxious teenagers that stood outside for hours to get a glimpse of them. It paid off though. I got to shake prince charles and williams (whom i was in love with at the time) hand. aaaah yes nothing like teenager obsession

Speaking of running in Sr. william.. I was at the Queens Treasures art exhibit last year when I was in London... and apparently the day after I was there Prince William was there at the exact same time.... Sooo upsetting... we could have been married by now if I had just gone the day after

I never got to see him, but I got to clean his yacht in New Zealand when I worked for Diver Services Limited, Auckland. They took the yacht half way around the world to have the hull cleaned by da pros
