my folks did this for awhile, they might still do this... I'm not sure. But they put all their fives in a jar and then would take them to the bank when it was full or use it for a weekend getaway or something. Worked pretty well for them and I would totally do it if I used cash but I really can't remember the last time I had cash

This is a great way of tricking yourself into saving for sure! I have my normal savings, but whenever I use cash to buy something i put all the change into a moneybox which you have to ruin to open, last time I checked - before transfering it into this money box i had a couple of hundred - not bad for only a few months of getting rid of coins. :D
