Post Hello!

Hi!
I'm the most recent addition to the Tpunk league. Sadly, It's not actually official. No actual plans, just dreams.
I'm too tied down by 'the way you're supposed to live your life'. 2 cars, a job (a great job, that I don't exactly love) , an apartment, and a boyfriend (that doesn't like to travel). However, I still have a chance: my boyfriend takes long trips out of the country for work. So, I'm thinking that could be my chance to get out!
Rambling, sorry, I'm just excited I found this place. I imagine it's going to be a great sounding board for ideas...

Thanks for listening...or reading rather!:D

Travelpunk: "Where dreams become reality" :D

If your boyfriends doing allot of traveling for work, it's probably the traveling he hates (getting there and coming back) more than anything. Has he had the chance to enjoy traveling? I've had to travel to England to work and the 9 hours of getting there (We had to drive there using Ferrys) make it a real pain in the hole. Even the accommodation (travel lodges that look exactly the same so you feel your going nowhere) just makes the whole experience a trial more than anything.

You need to link traveling up with doing things he likes. Next time ye're out relaxing having a beer just say, imagine doing this in Paris. Even if he's a motorspot fan, or likes fishing they can be done in some spectacular places.

Welcome! Traveling just for work can be fatiguing. Nobody to talk to on the plane. Nobody to go explore with when you get there. It's not really conducive to the type of backpacking the majority of us here on the boards do, because nobody really puts a $2/a night hostel on an expense account (but how freaking fun would that be??). If it was possible for you to tag along (using your own money or with a spouse allotment from his company) that might make the difference to him!

And even though we mostly just talk about out of the country traveling - road trips are a good way to warm up to a leap across oceans and continents. Traveling is just something new. You can definitely ease into it, and he might see the difference between being forced to travel and doing it with you!

Definitely keep us in the loop as you strategize!
