Average travel expenses per country?
Does anyone know of a resource that lists the average cost to travel in a country, by country?
What I am looking for, would be a list of countries ranked by how expensive it is to travel there, for say a week (or day or month, the unit doesnt really matter)... any ideas? I am thinking such a list would incorporate: average accommodation fees, food expenses, average cost of public transportation, average cost of beer, etc......
This would be extremely helpful to many people!
And, if this list does not exist, do you think you can correlate travel expenses with something like GDP/capita, purchasing power parity, consumer price index, or some other measure?
Thanks!

Although probably not helpful in any way, I always find the big mac measure interesting.

Actually this is one way of looking at it! Much like cell phones or computers per capita, kind of a measure of westernization!
Although isn't it a 'royale' with cheese in France?

if you click on a region, then a country, then money & costs, it will give you a list of avg cost for day to day items (i.e. bottle of water, beer, taxi, etc), plus avg cost of rooms and meals. that's the best source i've come by but i'd like something more extensive if anyone has.

In my lonely planet book, on the first page of each country's chapter, there is an estimated daily budget for a night's accommodation, food, drinks, sightseeing etc. I found it pretty on-target when I was there, I never spent more than the amount they said and I made no effort to budget. it may have just been cheaper in winter, though. do you have a lonely planet? if you don't, let me know your countries and I'll look em up, although my book was bought in 2006. you could always go into a big bookshop where they don't have much customer service and just look it up in their guidebooks and take notes!
I'm glad you're asking this though, it's important to adjust your budget to each country.
