Default carrying liquids

You can't carry liquids onto airplanes anymore, are there problems for checked luggage? I have only crossed the border in a car so I don't know...

I'm just thinking how much it would suck to have to rebuy my toner or facewash in each place.

You can carry liquids in checked bags, no problem.

Here's a link to the TSA reg concerning it.

you can carry-on liquids & gels containers up to 100ml, I think it was, as much as you can fit into a 1 litre bag. I never check luggage so I just keep reusing the bag they gave a couple flights ago & putting my sunscreen & etc in there. I hate that you can't bring water onto planes though. I get dehydrated so easily and have to keep bugging the flight attendants to fill my little plastic cup. my transatlantic flight will be so fun for them, LOL

Bring an empty Nalgene bottle through security and fill it at a drinking fountain. Liquids are restricted through the security checkpoint but not once you are airside.

Agreed, I've done this a few times myself. If you want to put it in a backpack or something while it goes thru the x-ray machine, make sure the cap is off and something is packed inside of it so the screeners can easily tell its empty.

thanks everyone! I didn't know you were allowed to bring fluids carry-on, I thought they were completely banned.

How do you get away with not checking stuff? I thought you could only carry one small bag on...?

Forgive my ignorance, like I said I have not travelled. Yet!

^ ^ ^

Maybe they're the annoying people who insist that their bag is small enough to fit in the overhead locker, then proceed to spend about ten minutes pushing and shoving the bag in, whilst knocking me around the head in the process?

Can you tell I've had a bad experience? :D

And then they spend another 10 freakin minutes getting it out while everyone behind them in the plane just wants to get off the damn thing. Can you tell I've had multiple bad experiences? :D

good tip on the nalgene, will do!

as for not checking luggage, I just pack light. really light. and actually, I don't usually put stuff in the overhead compartment. For one, I'm too short to reach it, haha, but really, my bag fits under the seat so there's no need. So I'm not annoying anyone, I swear. Except maybe that one time when I acquired a pair of roller skates in Calgary. Those were kind of awkward. I'm a small person, my stuff doesn't take up a lot of space, & I don't generally bring a lot of stuff with me anywhere I go. The goal for this 6 week Europe trip is to have everything in one small backpack & so far it looks like I'll have no problem making that happen. =)
