Default travel blogs

I'm thinking about setting up a travel blog. original purpose was to share experiences with friends & family efficiently but I know I won't be able to resist the impulse to add some affiliates, work some keywords, and get in the search engines. it's what I do. SO, I want to write a blog that is interesting to people that don't know me as well as those that do.

I'm interested in examples of travel blogs that you enjoy. Also, in a general sense, what do you like to see on travel blogs? what makes them interesting? what makes them boring?

Any input is appreciated =)

Molly

I had a travel blog just for my trip in the summer... mostly for my friends and extended family - so they didn't think I was locked up in Syria, and so that I didn't have to send off a mission emails.

You can see it here: http://jaybackpacking2007.blogspot.com/

But I found that many many people read it (who told me they read it), including people who I thought wouldn't be interested.

What makes an interesting blog? Simple: the qualty of the writing. And pictures.

thanks for the response, I'll take a look and keep snooping around people's footers =) Just curious if folks here read travel blogs of people they don't know at all, or if you get comments on your blog from strangers, or whether it's more a friends & family thing. Thanks again, looking forward to reading your

I had a blog once. It had nothing to do with travel and a lot to do with the Church. I do miss it, however, it was too general, I ended up spending way too much time on it, and I discovered a whole new world of fruitcakes. Great way to keep in touch with friends and family.

Looks like it wouldn't behard to drop a map into wordpress like that. Or is it a plugin or something? Fun reading....

thanks. the map isn't hard, it is a combination or 3-4 plug-ins.
