Have you considered going to Munich? 20 Euros by the Bayern pass, and I recommend the Wombat.

If you are staying in Salzburg because you are going East, you can look on the hostel booking sites such as the one on travelpunk. Salzburg tends to be a bit pricier than other cities.

Good luck! I hope this is for tomorrow because it is already late here

I don't know if any of the hostels are really close to the train station, ie in Munich, but if you're catching an early train you could just crash in the station...its Austria so it can't be that bad...lol

ps...I didn't know the Salzburg Hauptbahnhof was exclusively for Eurail travellers :D j/k

In Vienna, the train stations close for the night. I'm guessing it would be the same in Salzburg, but maybe not. However, you could task the security guards to let you in.

Short personnal story : I was in Vienna only from 11:00 pm until 5:00 am for a transit. I was allowed to spend the night in the Vienna's train station, without even asking for it, because I had decided to not sleep and stick around the station until my train's departure. The guards thought it wasn't safe for me (there were lots of junkies around), so they asked me to "hide" inside the station for the night.
