Has anyone been in Spain during Semana Santa? Turns out I'll be there for the entire week. How hard will it be to find a place to stay? We won't be going to Sevilla, which I know is where the main festivities are. I'm planning to make reservations as much as I can, but pretty much after we get to Barcelona the rest is up in the air. I really want to go to Granada and most likely Valencia, and then maybe Madrid for the hell of it. I should mention that we're not going to Sevilla specifically because of Semana Santa, otherwise I would really want to go there.

Anyone have any ideas (hint hint tp??? )

And why the fawk do the bus trips take so long for such (relatively) short distances? 8 hrs or something ridiculous from Barcelona to Valencia, which is what-- 250 miles or so? Criminy. At least it's cheap.

Sevilla is such a cool town! It's so festive and and Semana Santa will be piz-nacked :greenguy: ! If you can reserve something ahead of time in Sevilla for that week, then why avoid it? It could be off the hook !

Last year, and the year before, i was 4 hrs south of Madrid in Andalucia for Semana Santa. In the town of Villa Nueva Del Arzobispo. We went to the closet biggest city of Ubeda, 20 minutes away, to watch the processions. It's really something to see in person

I've been to Granada to see the Al Hambra, but didn't have much time for anything else. it was cool just to see that.

One place that i really wanted to visit, but didn't get a chance to was Salamanca. It was voted one of 2 European cities of the year, a couple of years ago. Heard nothing but stellar reviews. Also, how about San Sebastian up north? Heard it was also a MUST SEE and one of the most beautiful places in Europe!

I would play it safe and reserve a hostel ahead of time in the cities that you mentioned during that very celebrated week, in the bigger cities that is.

Not sure why that particular bus ride is so long? I only took the bus once when I was in Spain and it got to my destination like there was no tomorrow !
