Life: Getting it sorted out.
Unfortunately in one of my last posts (2 and a half years ago!) I mentioned that My desired trip was postponed. It was. And I still haven't gotten out yet. Now that every things peachy keen, I've decided now is the time to start. I set a date of April 15th ( only worked one job this year, so taxes should be easy ) as the day that I will take a flight to Dublin. Why dublin? Well for starters it's the cheapest place to fly into from the West Coast of the Unbearable States. I figure I'll start there wind my way through the country and onto Liverpool or somewhere else.
I won't have an Itinerary. Seems to Cleaverish to me. I do plan on traveling till either my desire burns out or I find another interest, such as a job opportunity in a coastal town in Italy, or love. Who knows. Originally I thought I wanted to become a member of the 100 country club, and while that would be cool, I think it might limit other opportunities. Being completely honest, there are some things that scare me. I've never traveled alone, so I'm not sure how it'll turn out. I'll have limited funds so my plan is to find odd jobs/under the table work to keep me going. Also I'm kinda weirded out by botfly's burrowing in my scrotum!
I've never done anything near to this magnitude before, So it will be a life altering experience. Hopefully for the better. I plan on bringing 2 changes of clothes, extra socks and undergarments, A Solitaire Tent, A sleeping bag a pair of sandals, A chamois towel, a few toiletries, and my MP3 player. ( and a converter for it.)I've also thought about my laptop, but it seems it would be prohibitively burdensome.
As weird and irresponsible as it sounds, I think this will be kind of like an experiment. It may fail, but I hope it suceeds. I will be launching my website around the end of the year. It'll be a place for my travelogue, my photos, and my Anti-bush/Pro True Freedom rants. And of course a couple photos.
Ciao!
I guess wherever I feel the impression to go is where we'll meet,
Kimball!

More stuff to lose. I think I used my mp3 player once over a 2 month period. Overall I think I've used my mp3 player 3 times since I got it so maybe I'm not a good reference.
Same goes for the tent and sleeping bag I needed them once in an emergency but putting it up in the rain wasn't fun.

Good luck. I love not having an itinerary...I hope the experiment works out for you (and I personally would go mad without music, but scrap the laptop ).

Welcome back to Travelpunk!!!! Good place to be.
I don't have an MP3 player but I can't hear that well anyway. Never understood those white things in people's ears.
Ireland is a great place for young people.
