Default Globe Trekker TV show

I just watched this show on PBS called GLOBE TREKKER and it was on Columbia and it was actually done very well, and had a far more back packer feel to it. Im sure you guys ALLL know about it already, but I had to ask...

Anyways, I looked them on the net and it seems they have alot of thier shows you can download (for a small price of course) and the catalog seems pretty extensive...

I dunno, I DVR just about everything on the travel channel..and it seems everyone stays in high end hotels in touristy cities, its nice to see someone staying in a tent once in awhile

Anyways... just in case... : http://www.pilotguides.com/tv_shows/...kker/index.php

Yeah man, I started watching Globe Trekker years and years ago, I love that show and how much more detailed they are per destination etc... I have DVR'd it in the past, and there are PLENTY of shows and destinations to watch. I personally like the much older ones with Justine, But I also love Ian.

ya, they took globe trekker off the air, in my area.

my favorite was megan mccormick, she really had a great personality.

they could all get a job in public relations

lonely planet has now been re-named to globe trekker, since the new conglomerate took it over. (i think it's now owned by pilot inc.)

a lot of their 'best of' (like best trekking, best shopping etc.) combines the early productions with the new material, as i'm sure you're all aware of.

the early shows had that slight touch of amateurism and 'rarity' to them. it was unique in the sense that not very many travel documentaries were devoted to budget travelling, off the beaten path.
the production wasn't glamorous but its contents were always interesting.

the newer versions (as globe trekker) tends to be glossier, and with more production and shine. nowadays they don't always stick to shoestring budgets. (one comes to mind is ian's trip to the south pacific where he was spending $$$ on luxury hotels)

i've also had waaay too many episodes on my tivo, and had to delete lots of them to make room for new stuff...

Ok, so I'm not sure it was Globe Trekker or Bizarre Foods or Tony or what, but it's quasi-germane, so I'm adding it.

Hicham (who is a Moroccan man, born and raised in Casablanca) went home for two months. He called me from a square in Casablanca where he was eating some camel. He FOUND the place where he could eat the camel by sitting on my futon in Silver Spring, Maryland watching the travel channel. Pretty awesome, huh?

i love it when they do the fake 'grainy' effect on the footage. usually during a montage of some sort they'll go from a crystal clear high-def look to footage that looks like it was shot on an old super-8 and play some funky electro-tribal music.

ok, so IS this the same as pilot guides? cuz i recognize justine and i know the ian you're speaking of, but i honestly don't really like either of them. ian can be funny sometimes in a dorky sorta way, but thats about it. i've seen loads of this show then, that and don't forget your passport, a canadian made show i believe. also not really too fond of the hosts on that show either. maybe i'm just jealous. totally reckon i could do a better job.
