Ideas for halloween?
Hey guys,
so my friend is having a halloween party this year. I don't usually do anything on halloween... the last time I actually went to a party or anything I decided to boycott the "dress up scary" idea, and went as a fairy. This year, however, I feel I have to make the effort of dressing up properly. Problem is, I have no idea what to dress up as!!
This is where you come in! Please give me some suggestions! I did have one thought, but I'm really a bit undecided about. As I'm studying nursing, I thought it would be cool to go as a crazed, blood-covered nurse, wielding a saw, or a carving knife or something. Thing with that is that it involves having to find a nurse outfit that isn't a) completely slutty, or b) really shoddy quality (as most are that I have seen). Also, I don't have loads of money to spend. And I need to buy some fake blood to make it look gory, but I'm not sure how well it will turn out.
Anyway, any ideas on what I could go as? I don't want to be a witch or a devil!!

good for you for wanting to celebrate in the true spirit of halloween. god, every year when discussing what to be for halloween with friends, it's always like, "okay, so we're going to be a slutty what this year?" I am guilty of taking part in ruining the tradition by such costumes as naughty Girl Scout. *sigh*
anyway I was at a party once where I saw a girl do the whole "Carrie" costume, she had a bit of a formal dress on, did some crazy hair, heavy on the eyeliner, had some fake blood and knife, and it was put together well, and she said the only things she bought was the fake blood and knife, she had everything else at home.
so that's an idea.

Yeah... I'm in the same boat.. I don't want to go horrific, but slutty isn't my scene either... I was thinking Lara Croft... but oh where to find the jumpsuit

Haha... that's what everyone says. Halloween has become National Dress-Like-A-Slut day. Not that I'm discouraging that, I think it kind of goes well with the pagan roots of the holiday.
I'll second pirate wench.

I might rock the pirate thing this year (I just want an excuse to steal one of the crazy swords from the props room). Or a vampire, although my all-else-fail tends to be the schoolgirl.

Ok I've got mine, went out to my local value village and got an "evil fairy" outfit for $20. I'll post pics when I get some!

i like the non-traditional costumes. for instance, one year, my brother just carried around a box of cereal with a knife stuck in it. (a cereal killer!) classic.
i had a roommate who had gotten hold of a big cardboard box and wrapped it, with a bow, and a card that said "To: Women, From: God"
im friends with a couple that are going as Brand and Andy from Goonies. Hes gonna have the shorts over his sweatpants and the stretchy spring exercise thing, and shell be in a dirty cheerleading sweater i guess.
im a fan of any costumes that require you to act differently, either walking funny or talking with an accent. anything that shows that you put some thought into it rather than grabbing the skimpy, slutty witch outfit off the hanger.

Yeah - Han is way cooler. I mean, if Chewbacca will hang with you, you gotta be cool.
