Issues upon issues.
OK... So my family is stressing me out. So my parents were paying for my plane ticket to/from Europe. The bought it a few months ago, great right? Wrong. Turns out they bought a one way with intentions of getting the return when I know exactly when I'll be coming back... Can I even get into the country with a 1 way ticket?!? I am supposed to leave in 12 days...
Problem 2. How much money do I need to be able to prove I have in order to be admitted into England? I HAVE lots of money, however because it's coming from an inheritance my parents control it. Yea, I'm thrilled. So how much do I have to make SURE I have, and how do I prove I have it?

Most of the time, if you can prove your plans via: train tickets, hotel reservations, etc. I would also assume as little as a $1000. would be sufficient, although I don't know how they would make you prove it, or if they even would. More than likely, they will just want to see that you do have an itenary of sorts so that they know you are moving on.

Not having another roundtrip/open jaw ticket may be a slight problem but I think if you have a one way ticket out of the UK that will go a long way towards helping establish that you are not immigrating there.
If you are planning a long term stay and have a working/student visa I think the roundtrip provision is waived. Unfortunately it seems like the British consulate has a toll number

Edit: I think Lizz is right (below) on having a credit card (I was told the same thing about Japan)

I know its required a lot of times, but no one has ever asked me to prove I was exiting the country or that I had money in any country I've ever visited. They sometimes ask you how long you're staying or something but just take your word for it.
Is this just a matter of where I've visited, or do they check that kind of thing on a random basis? I wonder if the airlines supply flight info to some kind of database so their computer shows the departing ticket.

I don't think you'll have a problem. You're probably gonna look all backpacker so they figure you'll be leaving. I think someone coming from a less developed country would have their funds and intentions scrutinized. A credit card is probably enough to prove funds and if you don't have a Eurail pass (which I imagine would satisfy them) then pick up a ticket from Aer Lingus to Ireland. Heathrow to Dublin is only 1 pound. Better safe than sorry right.

Well the ticket situation has been ramified (yay!) but I have to admit I'm still a little concerned about the money situation. *shrugs* I guess they'll let me in or they wont.

We just don't like paper work. It's all unessesary. I was coming through Irish customs once and the guy was just reading a paper and waving his hand letting people through.
