Default Hotel Chirripó: San Isidro del General, Costa Rica

Hostel: Hotel Chirripó
Location: San Isidro del General, 3hr bus ride south from San Jose
Prices: NO DORMS HERE! $7 for a single room and $14 for a double (meaning two single beds...not one double bed as we found out) If you want a private bath then expect to pay about double...but the bathrooms are plentiful and a backpacker should have no issues with them.

San Isidro is mainly used as a drop off or start off point for those looking to climb the highest point (ATTN peakbaggers) in Costa Rica at Parque Nacional Chirripó (2hr bus ride from San Isidro). Also its usually a stop on buses heading from northern points to the south-west coast beaches.

The Hotel is actually very nice and well-kept. Its located along the Parque Central which has numurous bars, other hotels, stores and even a huge church surrounding it. The hotel also has a nice restaurant with sidewalk seating but watch out for a large table of American males...they are rude and noisy. The food is great though with both regional delights and meals that would remind you of home (Chris likes the spagetti with shrimp).

Two doors down is an internet cafe (which this review is being written from) that is relatively cheap and offers quick access. San Isidro is relatively small so finding an ATM, supermarket, or whatever you need shouldn't be an issue. And if you are having trouble the people are Chirripó are very helpful!

This hotel is very good and well maintained. Along the Parque Central, which numerous bars, hotels, shops and even a huge church and surrounding it is located. San Isidro is to find a relatively small supermarket ATM's, or need not be a problem.
