the travel gods hate me
let me explain my uncanny luck.
something shit happens to me, that usually ends up being good, or vice versa, its really bizaar! everyone else in my family has that other kind of luck, the one where they put their loose $2 change into a pokie machine and win $500, or grab a scratchy ticket with their change and win $20. not me.
my luck is the kind where i over spend in my budget while in thailand, and end up coming home early (bad luck) by doing so i miss the tsunami by a week (good thing) or i start booking my flights to travel to the UK with a close friend (good thing) then my other mate gets murdered (bad thing) get it?
weird, random luck. i cant explain it. but 100% of the time it involves travel. part of me loves it, it keeps me on my toes, its a little kooky, and i get to spend time wondering what the good/bad luck is going to be.
the lastest.
i was planning on booking my tickets this weekend for a 3 month stay in the UK via HK and Valencia (for americas cup) in 7 weeks time. awesome good right?
well, yesterday i get a call from a magazine asking me to come on board for a columist position. its a weekly mag with massive readership, and will compleatly boost my 'career'. so im stoked.
bad thing....
that trip might be back on hold
will i never do a thing right?! lol i have a plan b,c,d,e,f...etc when it comes to travel, so far with this trip its already up to plan C!! *sigh*
guess at least ill have a cool lil job

You're going to write for Zoo!!! That's the coolest freakin magazine in the world!! I think in this case it started out as a good thing (UK trip) and got altered by an excellent thing (writing for zoo!!).
I'm so in love with Crystal, that's awesome that you'll be working with her....sigh

hey girl sorry to hear about the cancled trip but you should defintely try to get away for a few weeks! Maybe take your work with you?
But def congrats on the new job. I (as an american) have no clue what the zoo is but I will definitely google it!! So is this like having a celebrity on tpunk?

Super duper congrats on the new job!!
If it was me, for an awesomeness job like writing a column in a magazine, I'd definitely put the trip on the backburner. If it was just a lame-ass desk job I'd take the trip.

aww thanks guys.
i am really really excited for the prospects of what a job like can bring me, but tbh, im a lil devostated about the possible cancellation of the trip.
i guess i could probably still go for like 3 weeks (1 in hk,1 in valencia and 1 in london?) as i am able to the work from home anyways. i can always move there next year and just transfer between the aussie and uk mag hehe in a perfect world!!
i am really excited, this is going to be a wicked journey in itself!!!

Figure like this: Writing for a magazine can be done on the road. You put the major trip on hold and then turn around with a few articles for the road and BAM! You're back in the game again.
Anyway, congrats on the new gig!

Does it matter where you are when your writing your colum? If you don't need to be there in person I would have thought you could be anywhere in the world.

I have to agree with the last couple of posters - this could be a blessing, if you're writing for Zoo, you could start doing submissions from the road! Do your time at the desk, so you can cement your reputation in the job, and before you know it, you'll be telecommuting from all over the world in no time!

i see what your your all saying about taking it on the road, and thats what i initially thought too, but i have a feeling something like that wouldnt happen. the coloumists are usualy needed to be involved in parties around aussie,as appearances and stuff.
i just dont think its possible
i guess ,one good thing is replaced by another, thats pretty damn good luck, beats having something shit happen
