Question about hostels

I have been reviewing hostels and am a bit unsure of how much they charge. I am going with my fiancee. I have been using hostelworld to do most of my research. There is a grid to the right that shows different prices for different days and rooms. When possible I would like to get a double vs two twins. If I get a double, do I pay for the single bed or for two people?

The policy varies by hostel, but I've found it's usually the case where the double price is for both people, one bed.

Get a link for the hostel's web site or find their contact info and get in touch with them directly to make sure.

In my experience, it's pay per person. It is definitely up to the establishment, however. I travelled with a pair of guys through Jordan, and we chose not to be in a room together. I would pay 5 dinar a night to their 4 each in Aqaba, and 10 dinar to their 8 each. So total, they paid 8 where I alone paid 4, and 16 where I paid 10.

It's double-edged sword, with pros as well, as sometimes I have stayed in a totally empty dorm room built for 6+ people when travelling, but have not been required to pay anything additional.
