Default I Must Have Some Real Bad Karma

We'll me and a mate started planning for a 12month trip through Europe some time back, We couldn't wait it was going to be a trip of a lifetime.

Then my mate failed his final uni exam, meaning he had to re-sit the test, So we decide to push the trip from May to July, no problem

Then my mate gets offered a job........supposedly his dream job, out go his plans, im now going solo

This dissapointed me a bit, but ah well you get over it, it was now a solo trip and i was as pumped as ever........................So today i went downtown to book some flights, as well as sort out phone contracts etc, After about 3 hours i returned to my car, reversed out, then went to throw her into gear and !@#$ the gearbox sh*t itself, i now have a car that i need to sell to cover my flight and the !@#$in thing wont run

I hate the world and everyone in it (except for tpunkers)

I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going as well as you hoped for!

But as you said, going solo isn't a bad thing at all. Most people get wayyyy more out of traveling alone. I've come to expect that life happens - people's plans always change, and I always plan my trips in a way that will let me go it alone if and when people quit on me. I'm sure that seeing Europe on your own will be an amazing and enriching time, and you'll meet plenty of awesome people out there who are on the road just like you.

That sucks about the car though, I hope you get it fixed up and that things work out financially for you.

Don't hate life! These hiccups are all part of the lovely adventure that travel entails...but we're here for you to rant to whenever you feel frustrated!

Traveling solo is the way to go. I think the biggest barrier to people traveling is being held back by travel partner issues. Going alone is great because you are entirely in control of your itinerary and schedule. Plus you will meet and interact with far more people when you are alone! Don't sweat it, everything will work out for the best!!

I kept waiting on friends forever to actually get it in gear and go with me. I waited like two years for nothing because they just kept backing out. Finally I said forget it and just started soloing and loved it.

Just kick the bitch in the side. It may be an extra dent but hey, if it doesn't work, just take your frustrations out on the damn thing

harsh mate. do you ont know anyone thats a mechanic? or a freind of a freind that can help out for a small payment?

if not, you'll just have to get it fixed and delay your trip :9 it may seem shite at the time, but some things happen for a reason. it will give you more time to prepare for your trip - if your going solo, you only see the things you want to, so maybe you might want to pick at your itenary? try and change it into a positive thing - find more places to go, save more cash...
