New and Overwhelmed!
Hey everyone!
I'm new on here. I have no clue where to start. I've traveled a bit. But compared to everyone else it doesn't seem like much at all. I have a big trip planned in september with three of my friends. We're going to Europe and we've never been. I've been compiling as much info as possible and found this site. So basically I'm introducing myself and asking for some tips about Europe.
.much love.

well, we're headed to the U.K. first. Our plane lands in Glasgow, so any info about Glasgow and Scotland in general would be great. We're gonna be going to London, and a few othe places in England. We're headed to Paris after that. And after we get there we're playing the rest of our trip by ear. Is this a stupid idea? Should we have places to stay booked? Any advice would be sweet.
.much love.

Actually no playing it by ear is often the best way to go. It does depend on what time of year you are planning to go... but get to Paris.. and then when you decide where you wanna hit next.. if you're worried call or e-mail from Paris to make sure a few hostels have beds and then head off.. but planning too far in advance often limits you and stops you from letting the wind take you.

Welcome aboard, Jamie! There are many unseasoned travelers on here too, so no worries.
Sit back, relax, and let the TPunk virus take it's course. No use fighting it now...

Welcome aboard! Plenty of resources around here so don't be shy and don't be afraid to ask specific questions. Keeping some flexibility in your itinerary is always a good thing!

i gotta say that this site is getting me even more stoked for the trip. everyone on here so far has been helpful and friendly. this is for sure a great place. i'm gonna get the rest of the guys going on the trip with me to check this site out.
A quick question. we're bringing two travel acoustic guitars with us on the trip. now i've traveled with my acoustic guitar before to Africa. It was fine. I'm just wondering about busking on the streets in different countries. is this usually an ok thing to do?
.much love.

Welcome aboard !
I've found two busking related threads :
work visa vs busking
pro-busking reports
Where have you been in Africa ? We need more travel tips about this continent, so anything you can throw in in the forum Africa is welcome.

Welcome to the boards!! Don't worry about that overwhelmed feeling, once you're traveling it will go away.

It worked for me, I had no plan at all and decided where I was going next the day before I left. I used to get on the net and find the numbers of a few hostels in the city I was going to and then ring them up on the train to ask them to keep a room for me (I had no credit card so couldn't book anywhere). I only got stuck once and had to go just outside the city to a campsite.

cool. looks like we'll be playing it by ear then. i was hoping it would work out that way anyways. we're going to be bringing a tent with us just incase we do get stuck in a situation where we have no place to stay.
thanks for the tips and welcomes!
.much love.
