And in a new development...

It looks like all over The Alp-y part of Europe they have these huge long toboggan runs! Like water slides except made of metal and you ride on wheeled carts! Woo Hoo!!! So I've decided I am going to ride every last one of them dammit! I can't wait!!! :D

Tip: if you're serious about this (hell, even if you're not) you need to take an extra pair of 'toboggan gloves'. You're going to be going down icy, steep hills at insanely high speeds on.. well let's say its not exactly the most technologically advanced form of transport. Your hands and feet will be your brakes, and you will definitely wear a hole in your gloves, maybe even your shoes if you're doing a lot of them. but ya know what.. it'll be sooooo worth it. have fun.

^I think your talking about REAL Toboggans, versus a summer version of a toboggan that majestic is speaking about. We used to have what were called Alpine Slides up in the mountains of NH, which I think sound are similar to what Majestic is talking about above. There is a concrete 'path' with banked corners that go down a mountain and you ride a little one man car/toboggan on wheels down the course. You have a stick that is basically a brake - almost like a luge course but not on ice, on concrete. You just have to be careful 'cause you can go really fast and fly right off a corner....but they are a lot of fun.

Do they still do those? I remember as a kid going up to Attitash for that a few times. Those things were a blast but I remember the worst would be when you got some slow person in front of you- such a buzzkill.

I was wondering the same thing when I first saw this thread. I will have to check into this. They used to have one near Gunstock as well, but that one is long gone.
