Yep, Lagos is pretty nice. It's where a lot of the Portuguese and other W. Europeans used to go on vacation before it became touristy. But like the rest of Portugal, it's more pristine compared to other w. Eur. countries areas. Hmmm... Lagos has an old town area and a modern shopping area. The beach is beautiful. Imagine those Hemingway'isc calm shallow waters upon which paddle boats rest and swing with the breeze... There are tons of restaurants, churches, history... I'd definitely recommend basing yourself there, but venturing out, at least for day trips, west of Faro, such as Tavira. I have a write up on Portugal that I can email to you if you want to know more of my personal impressions... If you're interested in art, there's a great art gallery there that I can direct you to... Hmmm... nostalgia... I wish I were there...

oh, also, if you're in Lagos on a budget, I'd recommend the HI hostel there.

I was in Lagos in April. The weather was nasty and I was too sick to enjoy it to the fullest.
Many expats there, from what I understand. There were some really good places to eat and lots of bars.
I was too sick to venture out to the beach as well I would love to go back some day, but in the summer time when it's hot and I can take advantage of the boat tours and big time pub crawling
But definitely, it was a beautiful place.
Carisia, I think we'd all love to read your write up!!!! Please post it!
