Hey all
Im wondering if showing up at the airport and buying a ticket for the next flight out an hour or 2 later is a cheap way to get ahold of tickets, I know that if the plane is full then they cant sell you a seat but if someone canceld and they have a seat left do you all reckon that it would be very cheap as they are just trying to get rid of it. I talked to jake and he figures that they would bump it up seriously high because someone who is aready at the airport is likely to pay top dollar to go the rest of the way. So what I want to know is has anyone tried this or knows anyone that has and what was their experience like???
Will

I was always under the impression that it was a lot more to buy tickets like that...unless you have a buddy pass or something similiar.

Yea, very last minute tickets are usually the most expensive ones for the whole flight as people who don't book in advance usually travel out of necessity so they can charge what they like.

I've been wondering about this myself. I can totally understand why tickets would be most expensive to exploit urgent travellers.

I always get confused: What's travelling on stand-by or doesn't it exist anymore for the above reason? I was trying to think of ways to save on domestic US flights. I thoguht I saw people travelling on stand-by on the US version of Airline... but I could be wrong.

Naw there are still tons of us that travel via standby but none of us that do it are regular joe's. Everyone that travels standby nowadays either works for an airline or is flying on an airline employees buddy pass OR is a passenger from another airline sent to that flight to try and get on...

follow that?
