So I just watched a documentary last night called "A Place Called Chiapas" (Very Good) and it is all about the Zapatistas who are fighting for land distribution to the indigenous peoples (28 million indigenous in Mexico) who are led by none other than, my man, Marcos. However my question is, who has been to the far south of Mexico, in the area of Chiapas. Anyone? Or anyone been anywhere where Zapatista presence was known? Just curious as to how that area is for traveling through because the Mexican government, state police, and para militaries are all over down there. Any info would be great.
Gracias

Hey fellow Ohioan, how are things?
Although they are not exactly your classic Travelpunker, there is a retired couple I met who have traveled Mexico quite extensively. George and Audrey DeLange have an awesome website detailing their travels in Mexico, and they go to quite a few out of the way places. I e-mailed George and found him extremely friendly and helpful with information on my trip to see the ruins in the Mexico City area this spring. E-mail him and he'll likely reply with good info.
His website is here
Good luck!

And Cherry has! Well to be honest I drank way too much Chiapas Tequila with some people and the next day I had to bounce and try to get to SF in less than 2 days. But yeah I know I had a great time I just don't 'member that much thou.
