We left Buenos Aires Friday at 8.45pm, arrived in San Juan on Saturday 11am. The birthday party was on Saturday night 'til dawn, and we left San Juan at 2pm Sunday, arriving in Buenos Aires at 7am on Monday...

Yes yes, we are THAT insane...

And it was absolutely worth it.

So I went with Pablo's family to the province of San Juan (north of Mendoza) for Pablo's cousin's 15th birthday party. Let me tell you: i've never been to something like that. Ever!! 200 guests were invited for dinner and then 150 more after 00.30AM.

The party was amazing, at this lovely venue at a hotel. I felt like i was at a groomless wedding rather than at a teenage girl's birthday party.

Unfortunately I didn't get to see a lot of the province of San Juan (only it's capital city, also called San Juan). But this place makes as good wine as Mendoza, so next time we're there we're going with a lot more time to visit other places, it's got a lot of very scenic sort of National Parks. So i wanna check that out in the future.
We did get to go to a wine shop and see some historic buildings. Wine from San Juan is excellent, and so is ham... So there were a lot of vineyards and olive plantations along the road.

The reason we couldn't stay longer was because I couldnt be absent from work. And not all coach trips are that long... but because I had to be in Buenos Aires before 8am, the only bus we could take was the one that goes through many towns, and has many stops (about 5, really) and that's why it took almost 16 hours ( ). Pablo's dad left at 7pm on Sunday and arrived at 9.30/10am on Monday.

I posted this here 'cause I think we need more SouthAmerican stories.

Now I really wanna go back and see more!!! Even if it does take 1100km to go and another 1100km to return.

I'll post pictures soon!!

((( Pointed By Numbers by The Sounds ))) :greenguy:

Sounds like it was it was cool, but I gotta tell you when I read San Juan, the first place I thought of was Puerto Rico's San Juan.

Man, you latin folk sure know how to party!

I swear, the only people who get that many people together and go that far for a birthday party at middle eastern, and all we do once we get together is talk shit behind as many backs as possible!
