Of course I am going to see some of England, Germany, and Spain but I want my trip to last about a month and a half to two months. I'll only have about a 5 thousand dollar budget...What suggestions does any one have for central or eastern european countries that are not only cheaper but must sees? Thanks...

MOst of Eastern Europe is much more affordable the Western Europe, you can travel there easy on a budget of 30$ 40$ a day, and that is private rooms and all.

That is the last information I have and I spoke to a freind of mine who was there a couple of years ago, Should not be much different now. There are a couple of Punkers that are in Eastern Europe now, maybe they can weigh in on this topic.

I often wonder when surfing through this board's members' posts why traveling to Europe dominates over traveling in any of the less developed nations on earth ( which comprise maybe 75% of the total world's population ).

Europe is NOW more expensive than ever with the Euro$ exchange rate being so high. Asia has SO MUCH TO OFFER to budget minded world travelers. One can travel the Indian Sub-Continent, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal for less than U$10 / day INCLUDING transport ( trains, buses and short flights ) and probably have enough over for shopping for souvenirs. In S.E. Asia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Burma, Vietnam Laos and the Philippines you can travel on U$20 / day or LESS if you're traveling with someone and can share the cost of the average $5 ( provinces and beaches )to $15 ( big cities )/ night for accomodation.

If you feel driven to travel to Europe but plan to go somewhere that your money will last longer then GO TO TURKEY; we loved it and found the Turkish style of hustling tourists with a good sense of humor amusing unlike Egypt where we found the Egyptians very annoying. If you stay on the coast it has the same feel as many Greek Islands but you can live on U$20 / day probably.

I'm totally stoked to go to India and Southeast Asia!!

But probably a big reason people go to Europe first has to do with airfare prices. Heading east can cost up to 3 times or more what a ticket to Europe costs. Plus Europe is fairly "easy" on the senses, especially for newbie travelers.

I think many here, at least initially, feel more comfortable going to EU where there's less of a culture/language/racial gap. Especially for first timer newbies...

Asia is an unbelievable steal though, has incredible history, food and unparalleled landscapes - which is why I've been there 3X and still plan to some more. Oh yea, and I'm Chinese too, so that is obviously also a factor, lol.

Yeah, I agree. I love Europe, but I'm really looking forward to going to Asia, especially India. I know it will be tough, but I've wanted to go for a long time. I just have some reservations about going alone as a female my first round... We'll see.
