I'm Jen, a 20-year-old college student who will be studying abroad in Paris next year. I felt like this is the perfect place to basically know about going around Europe, basic backpacking, etc. And so far, it's been mighty educational.
In order to really benefit from travel, I've been brushing up on my Spanish and French. I also want to start taking Italian lessons. I'm def not going to be fluent, no , but I do feel like having some basic knowledge would be very helpful. While I'm in Paris for 3-4 months, I would def like to go to London, Manchester (really would love to catch a game or two), Versailles, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Rome, Naples, Munich, etc.
So, to sum it up, I'm very new when it comes to travel...at least, not with those touristy group ones. But I would like to take advantage of the fact that I will be doing a lot more traveling in the months to come.

Welcome!
Well, my french really sucks, but spanish, italian and german I can help a bit. You can practice a bit with us I guess, over the language section. Once again, welcome.

Welcome!!! Studying abroad in Paris must be so cool!!! If you wanna practice any of those languages, like Echeverry said, please check out the Language clubs we've created recently to practice a bit among ourselves, some are really fun, so check it out!
And again, welcome to the boards!!

Welcome to the boards!!!
I loved Versaille when I did a day trip from Paris out there. The palace is simply amazing although they were doing renovations when I was there. Booo. Ah well, all to make it look better.
Have a great time and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to but a post up!!!

Welcome to Travelpunk! Versailles looks great. I can't wait to go there myself, as Louis XIV is one fascinating guy. I read that he spent 25% of France income maintaining court at Versailles! I'm pretty sure I heard renovations will be done in 2007. Good thing.
