I´m trying to gather some information on Normandy. Currently I don´t have a guide book for just france and the one I have for Europe doesn´t go much into what there is up there. I´ve asked a couple of friends who have traveled there for school and they say that the best things to see are in Caen (american cemetary, can get to Sant Michel) and Bayeux. I´ve read that Rouen is a good place as well. I basically have 5 days to explore Normandy, does anyone have a good suggestion on where to go or what to do, or whether it´s best to stay in one place and do day trips to other places or to just spend a night or two in each place and move on?
Thanks

Spend a day in Cherbourg, its lovely there. You can sit by the sea in a cafe just eating and drinking...ahh France.

I stayed in Pontorson from which I took day trips (esp. Mont St. Michel). If I went back, I'd also go to St. Malo, because I love ports and history. I also went to Caen. The region is definitely worth a visit, I'd pick one place and day trip, because it's easier than carting a pack around every day...
