Simpsons-first adult themed cartoon. Anyone remember Simpsonmania when they were just about everywhere? DO THE BARTMAN!

Unfortunately, The Real World. Along with Cops, it was among the first reality shows on American TV, and with the help of some bastard British producers, we started getting the first wave of horrible, low-budget, writing-free, creativity-challenged television.
Spawning a whole industry of flavor-of-the-weak catch phrases like "You are the weakest link, goodbye!" and "You're fired!" seminal reality TV shows like the Real World proved that TV audiences in America and beyond are complete and utter sheep ripe for the herding, and started the ball rolling for an intolerable number of "reality" based television that's anything but realistic.

^^ That was definitely a thought of mine.
Otherwise, definitely Simpsons. Been the longest running TV show.

Star Trek certainly did as it opened up that whole SciFi relm, and yeah unfortunatly real world had an impact too.

where's Saturday Night Live?
from that list I'd have to say Star Trek, but when it comes to comedy, SNL was groundbreaking.
