Here's the deal. I live in Florida and my boyfriend is currently residing in New Zealand. Since I haven't seen him in a month he offered to pay for some of my flight out there (and I hate taking money from people). Great I say, a trip for my poor self to NZ sounds feasible (cue sarcasm). So his parents decided to help out, offering more money to the "Get the girlfriend to the Home Country" cause. I am a fan of that even less.
This is where my dilemma kicks in...
I would like to try and get to him as cheaply as possible but these sites are driving me insane and I was curious if any one of you have had an experience getting out there and the best place to find a flight. I've been looking at skyauction.com, any suggestions?
Here's the details...
Leaving from Orlando, Fl but can trek my sorry ass to LA
Arriving in Christchurch
Leaving around 28 June and coming back around 20 July.
If anyone could help I would be HIGHLY appreciative. Gracias

Try signing up for Air New Zealand's web specials. I got there for far cheaper than any other deal I could finding via their own web site... Right now they're offering flights from LA for around $798, so it might be worth seeing what they have.

Already done, but that price is if you fly before may or mid june. I saw some for like 984 but plus tax it was about 1200.
But thanks for the heads up!!!

What I do is go to travelocity.com or expedia.com and look at the flight options that interest me. I find the best ones around the time that interest me and I write down all airlines and prices offered through the web site. Then I try to go backwards - I go to that airline website and price out the flight from there. Sometimes the flight through the airline website will be cheaper (as there is no comission added from the travel site) and sometimes you can find other options, layovers, etc. Of course it helps if you do this earlier than later, but it's worth a shot either way. Also, if you are going to be changing flights it's always better to use a bigger hub: bigger airport = more airlines = more choice = better prices.

Thanks guys! I have looked everywhere but I am thinking of just settling on one from Quantas for 1120. That is the cheapest i have found on about 32 websites. We'll see what i can do.

Hopefully you haven't bought your ticket yet. Just bought mine a week or so ago. I couldn't get the websites to work incuding the site for ANZ, so I called.
Talked to a nice guy there who helped me get the route I wanted and it was $100 CHEAPER than any of the websites!
Try calling the airlines, I know I will from now on.
